Our History
Ronald Powell started Powell Seeds in 1960 with a simple mission. He wanted to provide good genetics and better yielding crops to farmers at a low price. He started out with a simple bagging and cleaning system and public varieties. A lot has changed since then, but not our commitment to those two underlying principals. Ron had a strong work ethic, and applied it every day on the job until his passing in 2015.
Rex Powell, his son, played a critical role in the company for many years. His good attitude, thoughtful approach, and ability to mediate allowed our company to grow, adapt, and change as other companies closed their doors. Although he passed away from a farm accident in 2001, his legacy lives on. Rex's son, Roger, and daughter, Katy have taken up the torch and continue his work and attitude.
As the years continue, Powell Seeds continues to evolve. We have recently added brand new seed cleaning, treating, and handling equipment. We have also added additional services like delivery and technology tools. We have invested in new trait technologies and look forward to the future!
